As a Mobile Alabama wedding photographer, I love getting to photograph wedding days that have a sense of place and story to them, and this one felt especially dreamy from beginning to end.

Getting Ready at Historic Oakleigh House

The day began at the historic Oakleigh House in Mobile, Alabama, and it could not have been a more beautiful place to start.

The house provided the perfect backdrop for getting ready photos, with its historic architecture, warm tones, and beautiful details throughout the property.  I especially loved the dreamy detail shots from this part of the day. There is something about photographing wedding details in a historic space that makes them feel like little pieces of a story that will be remembered years from now.

Oakleigh House also has the sweetest little gazebo, which ended up being the perfect setting for Demi and Matt’s first look.

There was something so quiet and intimate about seeing them together for the first time there, surrounded by the beautiful grounds of the historic home.

An Intimate Ceremony at St. Joseph Chapel

From Oakleigh House, we headed to St. Joseph Chapel in Mobile’s Spring Hill neighborhood for the ceremony.

The chapel was absolutely beautiful.

A live violinist played as friends and family gathered together, and the warm yellow light throughout the chapel created the most beautiful atmosphere. It felt intimate, traditional, and incredibly meaningful.

The combination of the historic chapel, live music, warm light, and the people closest to Demi and Matt made their ceremony feel like such a special part of the day.

It was the kind of ceremony that reminds you why wedding photography is about more than just beautiful portraits. These are the moments that become part of a family’s story.

Wedding Portraits

After the ceremony, we stepped outside St. Joseph Chapel for portraits.

The historic architecture and surrounding greenery gave us plenty of opportunities for portraits that felt timeless without feeling overly posed.

I always want couples to have beautiful portraits, but I also want them to feel like themselves in them. We mixed traditional portraits with more natural moments so their gallery would feel like a collection of memories rather than a series of poses.

Back to Oakleigh House for the Reception

After portraits, we made our way back to Oakleigh House for the reception, where the energy completely shifted into celebration mode.

The reception was such a fun part of the evening. There was plenty of laughter, dancing, time with friends and family, and all of those moments that make a wedding day feel like a real celebration.

We also brought along a Camp Snap video camera, which is one of the add-ons I offer to my couples.

I love the Camp Snap because it gives couples something completely different from their professional wedding gallery. The videos are imperfect, nostalgic, and candid in the best way. They capture the moments happening between the big moments, whether that is someone dancing across the reception, friends laughing at the table, or a quick little clip from the night that you might not otherwise remember.

For a day as fun as Demi and Matt’s, it was the perfect addition.

A Wedding Day Full of Meaningful Moments

Demi and Matt’s Oakleigh House wedding was such a beautiful example of what I love about photographing weddings in Mobile, Alabama.

Historic architecture. Warm, beautiful light. An intimate chapel ceremony. Friends and family gathered together. Thoughtful details. A reception full of laughter and dancing.

Every part of the day felt like it belonged to them.

And that is always my goal when photographing a wedding. I want to preserve not only what your wedding day looked like, but what it felt like to be there. For the couples who want their wedding photos to feel cinematic, timeless, and full of real moments, this is exactly the kind of day I love documenting.
